Incident Details

Engine 3 responded as part of a full structure fire response. Upon arrival, E3 met with occupants outside of the house. Crews found an exterior landscaping light that had tipped into the house and was directly touching the wood exterior siding. There was a burned/charred spot that appeared to be a result of contact with the light. E3 removed the light and the exterior siding around the affected area. Firefighters cooled the siding with two water can extinguishers. Engine 3, Medic 1 and Ladder 1 remained to continue overhauling. There was no heat or fire extension to the interior of the building. The fire was contained to the siding. Ladder 1 put plastic over the hole left from overhaul operations. The owner and the renter both reported they smelled something burning. They met each other outside and found the landscape light against the siding. It was smoldering without flames present. The occupant removed the light prior to E3 arrival.
