Damaged Power Line Leads To Smoldering Tree On Near West Side

A caller reported seeing embers falling from a tree in a neighbor’s backyard on Craig Ave. The tree is among a dense patch of woods close to the neighbor’s house. Engine 9 arrived to find a power line resting against the smoldering tree. E9’s crew evacuated the nearby home, and MG&E arrived on scene to remove the electrical hazard. Firefighters put out all remaining hot spots, MG&E replaced the damaged power line, and the tree was removed overnight.
