Incident Details
The Madison Fire Department was called to the Graduate Hotel, 601 Langdon Street, for a smell of smoke in the building.
There were no signs of fire seen from the outside as Engine Company 1 and other responding units arrived on scene. There were no alarms sounding, and none of the occupants were evacuating.
An employee at the front desk pointed firefighters toward the basement utility room where they found an electrical panel that was smoking.
A property manager who was also called to the hotel turned off all the breakers in the affected panel and contacted an electrician. The property manager stayed on site until the electrician arrived to look into what was causing the panel to overheat and smoke.
