Incident Details
A sprinkler head was ripped from the ceiling of a covered parking garage the Glen Apartments when a U-Haul backed into the garage and became wedged in the entryway.
Although this was the only broken sprinkler head in the garage, it released a lot of water and pressure. Two firefighters went to the basement to shut off the sprinkler system to put a stop to the water leak.
Firefighters then helped relieve tire pressure in the U-Haul as bystanders hopped into the back of the truck, all in hopes of lowering the overall height of the vehicle.
Once the truck was removed, firefighters tried unsuccessfully to plug the sprinkler head so the system could be restored. A resident manager responded and facilitate repairs. In the meantime, the building was still protected by a functional fire alarm system.
