Curtains Catch Fire in Apartment

The Dane County Public Safety Communications - 911, received a call from Lyric Apartments stating some curtains were on fire.

The crew from Engine 3 responded to 1010 E. Washington Avenue on Saturday, October 21st. shortly after 2:30 pm. Once on scene, firefighters were told curtains on the 9th floor apartment were on fire, but the fire was out.

Firefighters made contact with the resident, who told crew members he was sitting on the couch when he heard a small pop. He then looked up and saw the curtains were on fire. The resident then went to the kitchen and grabbed a pitcher of water from the fridge and doused the fire.

Estimated damage as a result of the fire is $3,000.00.

Fire is under investigation.
