Incident Details
The Madison Fire Department responded to a residential fire on the 4200 block of Sheffield Ave on Saturday night. A call came in to dispatch at 6:51 pm reporting a structure fire with a possible trapped victim. The house was heavily involved, with smoke and flames visible, when crews arrived.
There were two residents in the home at the time the fire started. One was able to make their way out of the home to safety. Ladder 6 was the first to arrive on the scene at 6:56 pm and quickly began a rescue operation for the other resident. They located and pulled the resident out, announcing that all occupants were evacuated by 7:04 pm.
The crews continued to battle the fire, which had spread to the rear roof of the home and largely consumed the home. Crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to surrounding homes and trees although several neighbors were evacuated as a precaution. They had the fire extinguished and began clean up at 7:24 pm.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
