Fire Damages Vehicle In Walmart Parking Lot

Ladder Company 2 responded to a vehicle fire reported in the parking lot of Walmart on Watts Road Saturday afternoon. Upon arrival, the engine compartment was fully engulfed in flames, and the fire was spreading into the passenger compartment. Approximately 300 gallons of water were used to put it out. The vehicle’s owner was paged inside the store. He later told firefighters he thought he smelled something odd as he drove the car into the lot. The page alerting him to the fire came 20 minutes after stepping inside. Firefighters could not determine the exact cause and origin of the fire.
