Incident Details
A stovetop burner left on for an extended period of time led to reports of a natural gas leak in a downtown apartment over the weekend.
Engine Company 1 responded to the 100 block of E. Wilson Street, where MGE was already on scene investigating the initial reports. The apartment containing the gas leak was identified by MGE. Air monitors confirmed the presence of natural gas.
As the MGE technician turned off the gas valve to the burner, firefighters opened windows and doors to clear the air. Nobody was home at the time.
