Project Information

 The City of Madison Parks Division is planning the nature play area at Elvehjem Park. An online nature playground meeting was held to give an overview of typical nature play elements, review the related outcome of the 2019 Elvehjem Park master planning process, and to discuss nature play area options. The new nature play area will be installed in 2022.


ONLINE PLAYGROUND WORKSHOP completed in December 2020.

At this meeting, residents expressed a preference for pea gravel to be used as safety surfacing, and for a variety of nature play items including boulders and logs.

ELVEHJEM PARK MASTER PLAN

The master planning process for Elvehjem Park was completed in 2019, with the Board of Park Commissioners approving the final Elvehjem Park Master Plan PDF on January 8, 2020. This plan features a nature play area, designed for children with a targeted age range of 2-5 years old, in a space which was previously occupied by a softball backstop. This planning process will be addressing the components of this nature play area.
