Violence Prevention

Hello!  
 

It was a pleasure to see you last week at the Meadowood meal. We had a well-attended, represented and diverse group of people joining us for an amazing dinner, great conversation and access to a number of resources from the city, UW and the neighborhood.  I am looking forward to the December gathering!!  

Please join us tomorrow to continue the conversations.  If you are in the Meadowood area you may know that despite efforts to have positive activities such as the meals, Park Alives community meetings as well as partnering with MPD and Focus Interruption to increase services, we had yet another shot-fired situation.  We cannot allow this situation to interrupt our lives, paralyze us or discourage us from continuing to build a safe and healthy neighborhood. 

Situations like this bring fears but it also brings us together to lean against each other and strengthen our sense of community and belonging. Tomorrow, we will meet again to continue to strategize on how to reduce the incidents of violence the area has experienced.

Fue un placer verlos la semana pasada en la cena en Meadowood. Tuvimos un grupo diverso, mucha representación y fue bien atendido con personas que se unieron a nosotros para una cena increíble, una gran conversación y acceso a una serie de recursos de la ciudad, la Universidad de Wisconsin y el vecindario. ¡Espero con ansias la reunión de diciembre!

Únase a nosotros mañana para continuar la conversación. Si se encuentra en el área de Meadowood, puede que sepas, que a pesar de los esfuerzos para tener actividades positivas como las comidas, Park Alive y los esfuerzos de MPD y Focus Interruption de aumentar sus servicios, tuvimos otra situación de disparos. No podemos permitir que esta situación interrumpa nuestras vidas, nos paralice o nos desanime a seguir construyendo un barrio seguro y saludable.

Situaciones como esta traen miedos, pero también nos une para apoyarnos unos en otros y para fortalecer nuestro sentido de comunidad y de ser parte esencial de este núcleo. Mañana, nos reuniremos nuevamente para continuar elaborando estrategias sobre cómo reducir los incidentes de violencia que han impactado el área.
