The Madison Fire Department seeks a pool of candidates that reflects the richness and diversity of the community it serves. Desirable qualifications include a motivation to serve, tolerance, honesty and integrity, compassion, ability to work as a team member, effective communication and problem-solving skills, and a strong work ethic.
In order to be considered for employment, you must possess the following qualifications at the time of application:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be at least 18 years of age (there is no maximum age limit)
- Be a high school graduate or possess a high school equivalency diploma
- Possess a current driver’s license
- Be of sound mental and physical health
Successful candidates will begin the Fire Academy in the fall of 2018.
