Metro Public Hearing on Fare Collection System 

Metro Transit Public Hearing Scheduled - Metro is holding a public hearing on Monday, August 2 at 6:00 pm in front of the Transportation Policy and Planning Board to discuss replacing our current fare collection system in the coming years. Reindahl Park and Men's Shelter Updates

Also on Monday, the City-County Homeless Issues Committee will be receiving staff updates on the Reindahl Park encampment and progress towards a new men's shelter. You can find all the details here.

Large Item Pick-Up Discussion

The Common Council Executive Committee will be receiving an update on recycling and large item pick-up at its meeting on Tuesday. I’ve heard some feedback on the new large-item pickup process and this is a place to provide that feedback directly to our Streets division. Airport Commission Info Session on PFAS Remediation

The Airport Commission will host a community information session about the airport remediation process on Wednesday, August 4, at 5:30 pm via Zoom. Dane County residents can hear presentations from the airport director, Dane County Corporation Counsel, and staff from the Wisconsin 115th Fighter Wing. The commission will then take public comment after the presentations. Find the agenda and more information about the meeting here. Register to give public comment here. Ice Cream Social & Dean House Back Porch Concert 

On Thursday, August 5, the Dean House will host its annual ice cream social along with it’s back porch concert. Social starts at 5:30p and concert at 7:00p - details here.

Movie at Lake Edge Park

Join your neighbors for a screening of “Tenet” on Friday, August 6, beginning at 6:30pm at Lake Edge Park. More info here. 

Lake Edge Neighborhood Picnic

On Sunday, at Lake Edge Park, the Lake Edge Neighborhood association will host its annual picnic from 4-7p. Bring a dish to share, LENA will provide the burgers and hot dogs. Live music!  Remind your neighbors!

Masks strongly encouraged for everyone in indoor spaces, regardless of vaccination status

Public Health Madison & Dane County has issued new recommendations regarding the use of masks, in light of new guidance from the CDC.

"The Delta variant is spreading quickly in our community, causing an increase in cases in Dane County," said Janel Heinrich, Director of Public Health Madison & Dane County. "This is why we are strongly advising that everyone ages 2 and older, regardless of vaccination status, wear a mask in indoor public spaces, and at indoor private gatherings."

Delta is now the dominant strain of the virus in Dane County. This variant can spread to unvaccinated people easier, making it harder to avoid. The seven-day average of daily confirmed new cases is 31.4, an increase from 7.6 just one month ago.

Alder Currie’s D16 Update

Alder Currie has shared some updates in her most recent blog that may be of interest to some District 15 residents. This includes information on a virtual meeting to hear about a proposal from Young Blood Beer Company regarding their anticipated business plans at 1915 S. Stoughton Rd on Thursday August 12th, 6-8pm and some pipeline maintenance that will occur in Edna Taylor Conservancy between 8/2/2021 and 8/10/2021. You can read more of the details here.
