Cooking Fire Displaces Eight at Apartment Building

The Madison Fire Department was dispatched at 5:54PM to 1322 East Washington for a Residential Fire Alarm. The Fire Department arrived on scene at 5:56 and observed that a cooking fire inside of an apartment had caused the sprinkler system to activate. The sprinkler system extinguished the fire inside the apartment. Two other units/apartments were affected, ultimately displacing a total of eight residents at the apartment building.
 
No injuries were reported at the scene. The Red Cross was contacted and is assisting the residents with temporary housing.
