Incident Details
Firefighters responded to a west side home for a kitchen fire. AN occupant met Engine 7 at the door and explained they were cooking with oil and left the kitchen for a few minutes. Upon returning, they found open flames on the stovetop. She was able to extinguish most of the flames prior to calling 911.
There was moderate smoke throughout the home. Firefighters entered the kitchen and found some hot ashes on the stovetop and a rack of paper towels still smoldering. The fire also damaged the exhaust fan above the stove.
Firefighters cleared smoke from the home with a fan, and a thermal imaging camera confirmed there was no remaining fire in the nearby cabinets and walls. Nobody was injured.
