- Common Council: The Common Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, in virtual format at 6:30 PM. Agenda items include creating registration and enforcement systems for Native Tall Grass Lawn Areas and refining other lawn maintenance provisions within the Section, adopting the 2025 Common Council meeting dates, and approving the Large Item Collection and Electronic Waste Recycling policy.

- Parks Alive (Elver Park) - Monday, July 1, 2024: Parks Alive builds stronger neighborhoods and connects neighbors to their parks through fun, family-friendly activities, music, and free food. Events are held in parks across the city and throughout the summer. Connect with your neighbors and engage with your community at a Parks Alive event near you!
- Capitol City Band Concerts - Thursday, July 4, 2024: Old-fashioned free concerts in the park by the Capitol City Band with toe-tapping familiar music for all ages and all cultures. Bring a friend, bring your chairs; enjoy the music on a beautiful summer evening; rain or shine!

- No Streets Division Collections on Thursday, July 4, 2024: There will be no trash, recycling, brush, or large item collection on Thursday, July 4, 2024, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
- City of Madison Celebrates Groundbreaking for Hundreds of New Affordable Housing Units: City staff joined local developers Wednesday in celebrating the groundbreaking of a project near the former Oscar Mayer plant that will bring hundreds of new housing units to Madison.
- Gun Violence Declared a Public Health Emergency in America: This week, United States Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy released a landmark Surgeon General’s Advisory on Firearm Violence, declaring firearm violence in America a public health crisis.
- City of Madison Prioritizes BRT Accessibility, Partners With Local Experts: The City of Madison is evaluating our transportation and pedestrian systems to better meet the needs of residents and visitors with disabilities.
- Absentee Ballots Are in the Mail: The Madison City Clerk’s Office has mailed absentee ballots to more than 14,000 voters for the August 13 Partisan Primary.
- Partisan Primary Sample Ballots Available: Voters are reminded that they may vote in only one political party’s primary.
- Crossing Guard Recruitment Begins for Upcoming School Year: The City of Madison Traffic Engineering Division is currently recruiting crossing guards for the upcoming 2024-25 school year.
