Metro Transit and MMSD Partner Again for Free Summer Passes
Metro Transit and Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) are proud to partner again for the fifth consecutive year to bring back the Summer Youth Pass Program.
This program offers free rides to Madison-area students in grades 6 through 12, including recent high school graduates, throughout the summer months.
The Summer Youth Pass allows students to ride Metro FREE all summer long, making it easier to get to jobs, athletic camps, and other fun summer destinations around Madison.
Students with Existing Passes
Students with an MMSD Fast Fare pass from the school year are encouraged to use the same pass throughout the summer, making it easy and convenient to continue riding without interruptions.
Summer School Program Passes
Some students may be provided with a pass through their participation in a summer school program.
Need a Pass?
New for 2025, if a student doesn't already have an existing pass, the Summer Youth Pass will be available virtually through the Metro Transit Fast Fare mobile app, making it easier than ever for students to ride with just a scan from their phone.
To get started, students can email mymetrobus@cityofmadison.com from their school email address (ending in @madison.k12.wi.us) with the subject line: Summer Youth Pass.
Students and their parental guardians can visit mymetrobus.com for instructions on downloading the mobile app and how to set up a virtual pass, which will be valid from Friday, June 12, 2025, through Monday, September 1, 2025.
Metro Transit also offers $35.00 summer passes for elementary and out-of-town students who do not qualify for the free pass program.
