Nakoma Road Sidewalk Project & Shawnee Pass Construction
Starting Monday, June 30th, the Nakoma Rd Sidewalk Project begins. Sidewalk will be installed on the south side of Nakoma Rd and will allow for northeast bound travel only for this first phase. Nakoma Rd is estimated to fully re-open mid-September.
The project will close a gap in the pedestrian network that will involve bumping out the curb and removing most parking spots on the south side of Nakoma Road. There is no sanitary or water work anticipated, but storm sewer work will be necessary.
Additionally, Manitou Way will be closed for sanitary work alongside the Nakoma sidewalk project.
Important Details:
- Metro buses will be detoured to Cherokee Drive for Phase 1
- Later this summer, a box culvert will be replaced across Nakoma Road and Cherokee Drive, and traffic control will be altered
- Expect traffic control changes and added phases
- Nakoma is estimated to reopen mid-September
More phases to come, including a full closure of Nakoma Rd. Learn more details and background about this project on Engineering’s Nakoma Road Project webpage.
