
Garage Fire Causes $100,000 in Damage

On Sunday, July 13th at 3:25am, City of Madison Firefighters responded to a 911 call from a resident reporting a garage fire on the 1300 block of Glacier Hill Drive. The resident also told firefighters there were two rabbits in an apartment on the second floor.
Upon arrival, fire crews saw smoke from an open door and a second-floor window of the 2-story 4-unit apartment building. Ladder 8 crew entered the building and conducted a search for occupants, while firefighters from Engine 11 were assigned to water supply. Engine 13 forced entry to the garage door. Ladder 14 crew were assigned secondary search and EMS assist.
Firefighters located the fire in the garage and extinguished the fire using a water can extinguisher. Firefighters from Engine and Ladder 8 assisted in ventilation.
All occupants had evacuated.
One dog and two rabbits were safely removed from the building. One person was transported to the hospital by Medic 8.
No residents were displaced. Estimated $100,000 dollar loss.
The fire is under investigation.
