Newville Park Development Plan
August 1, 2025 Update
Madison Parks held an in-person public input meeting on Wednesday, July 31 in Newville Park. About 10 nearby residents attended to review four draft layout options and share their thoughts on future park improvements. Community input from this meeting will help guide the development of a refined park layout.
What we heard:
- Concerns about features that could:
- Encourage long-term stays or encampments
- Be vulnerable to vandalism or damage
- Be misused for activity involving drugs or alcohol
- Desire to preserve existing mature trees
- Support for planting additional trees to increase canopy coverage
- Appreciation for seating or gathering areas that could accommodate occasional informal meetings and gatherings
- Requests for intentional pathways to better accommodate those who use the park as a pedestrian cut-through
- Unified support for increasing greenery and landscaping throughout the park
