August 1, 2025 Update

Madison Parks held an in-person public input meeting on Wednesday, July 31 in Newville Park. About 10 nearby residents attended to review four draft layout options and share their thoughts on future park improvements. Community input from this meeting will help guide the development of a refined park layout.

What we heard:

  • Concerns about features that could:
    • Encourage long-term stays or encampments
    • Be vulnerable to vandalism or damage
    • Be misused for activity involving drugs or alcohol
  • Desire to preserve existing mature trees
  • Support for planting additional trees to increase canopy coverage
  • Appreciation for seating or gathering areas that could accommodate occasional informal meetings and gatherings
  • Requests for intentional pathways to better accommodate those who use the park as a pedestrian cut-through
  • Unified support for increasing greenery and landscaping throughout the park

Newville (Kenneth) Park

Project Information

Madison Parks is creating a Park Development Plan for Kenneth Newville Park. This page will be updated as the project progresses through the public engagement process, site plan review, bidding, and construction.

Newville Park is a 0.32-acre mini park located on Madison’s south side. The park currently offers a checkers table and three benches. The planning process will review existing park uses and identify future improvements.

Public Meeting Announcement

You're invited to a Public Meeting to help guide the future of Newville (Kenneth) Park!

Join us on Thursday, July 31 at 6:00PM for a public meeting at Newville (Kenneth) Park to kick of the park development planning process. 

What to Expect: 

  • Parks staff will share preliminary design ideas and discuss potential amenities
  • Opportunities to provide feedback and ask questions on potential improvements and amenities
