Municipal Court & Hearings
Our office prosecutes individuals and businesses who receive citations for general ordinance violations in Madison Municipal and Dane County Circuit Courts. We do not give legal advice or represent the general public in legal matters.
Our Role
- The prosecutors cannot speak with you about your case until you enter a plea with Madison Municipal Court.
- Once you enter a plea with the court, their office will issue a Pretrial Notice that will list a date and time to call our office as well as other important information.
- If you cannot make the date and time of the phone pretrial or any other hearing scheduled by the court, call or email Madison Municipal Court to reschedule 608-264-9282 or municipalcourt@cityofmadison.com.
- When you call our office for the pretrial hearing or any other hearing, you will speak to a prosecutor assigned to your case to try and resolve the matter. The court schedules many phone hearings per time slot so you may get our voicemail. Please leave a message with your name, citation number if available and a phone number for the prosecutor to return your call. The assigned prosecutor will return the call promptly.
- If the court matter involves a corporation/LLC, etc., the person calling should be the owner or an attorney representing the entity.
- If the matter cannot be resolved during the pretrial phone hearing, the court will schedule a trial date or City Attorney Review.
