Emily Balsley (and the Brewers) Crush it, Taking Shape Groundbreaking, and More Updates

posted

Hi Everyone,

Here are some fun photos from last week.

First up, on Tuesday, August 12, I rode on a bus to see the Brewers game with what can only be called the “Emily Balsley Fan Club.” As I shared in last week’s post, Emily, my neighbor in Dudgeon-Monroe, was asked by the Brewers to design a promotional T-Shirt to be given away at the game. And, boy, did she crush it with her design. She even got to throw out the first pitch! It was a blast and, by the way, the Brewers crushed it as well, beating the Pirates 14-0!

The next day was just as exciting as Madison celebrated the official groundbreaking for the "Taking Shape, Our Triangle" redevelopment project.  This five-phase, ten year project follows closely on the heels of the recently completed and very successful Bayview redevelopment project, also on the Triangle.

The groundbreaking was well attended, and included remarks by Mayor Satya, Gov. Evers and Congressmen Mark Pocan. Here's a photo with me, the Governor, Congressman Pocan, and County Board Supervisor Chuck Erickson.

Many of you have asked me over the years if the Governor and I are related. We are not. We share the same last name in terms of spelling, but not in pronunciation. I've teased him, that he's mis-pronouncing the family name, but he's Governor and I'm not, so there's that.

At any rate, I'm deeply grateful for his service to our State and told him so on Wednesday. He's been a true fighter for Wisconsin.
