Gas Leak Discovered at Local Laundromat

Firefighters responded to a laundromat at 5708 Raymond Road for a report of natural gas odor. A customer directed Ladder 7 to a dryer inside the building. Air monitors used by firefighters confirmed the presence of natural gas in the common area as well as inside the dryer.

Several attempts were made to call the business’s phone number, but there was no answer. With the help of MPD officers, firefighters were able to make contact with the property owner. Once the property owner arrived, firefighters were able to access the back of the dryer, where they located a leak in the connection of the natural gas pipe to the dryer. The natural gas valve was turned off and the building was ventilated until air levels returned to normal. 

Ladder 7 left the building in the care of its owner.
