My FOY First of Year Birds ~ Join Naturalist Diane Schwartz with Get Kids Outside  at Tenney Park Beach for a guided walk to look and listen for brightly colored Wisconsin Winter Birds along Lake Mendota, the Tenney Park Lagoon and Yahara River.  Tenney Park is a great place to find your FOY (First of Year) Mallard, Northern Cardinal, Black-capped Chickadee, Bluejay, and more!  We will look for the resident Screech Owl and we might even find an American Robin or Bluebird that is staying around all winter.  Learn how to use the free simple Merlin Bird ID app to help you identify birds by sight and by sound.  Make a New Years resolution to go birding at least once a week!  Learn how to record your own sightings in eBird.  Dress warm.  There may be a campfire with hot chocolate and smores after the walk.  

See the Wild Tenney on Facebook for more info and post your pictures and comments!  Free, welcoming, healthy, fairly accessible, family and kid friendly, educational, no pets.  Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.  Nature-expert guided walks in Tenney Park along Lake Mendota and the Yahara River Parkway bike path through the Madison Isthmus are free, family-friendly and held the first Saturday of each month, from 1:30-3pm. The walk begins at the Tenney Beach parking lot, 1300 Sherman Avenue. No registration is required. No pets are allowed.
