Project Information
The Parks Division, in partnership with the Madison Parks Foundation, will be installing an accessible beach walkway at Esther, Tenney, and Warner Beach in 2026. At each beach, a concrete sidewalk and accessible beach mat will be installed to provide access to the beach and water from an accessible path.
A beach mat allows access to the beach and the water for people with limited mobility or in wheelchairs. The Parks Division installed a beach mat at Bernie's Beach in 2021 and at Vilas Beach in 2024. Beach mats at both locations have been well received. Photos of existing beach mats in Madison's parks are included at the bottom of this page.
