UpdateWhile MPD was investigating the shooting scene on East Bluff, a woman approached detectives indicating she was the one responsible for the gunfire.
Heaven A. Grant, age 22, Madison, explained that she had recently broken up with the victim. He had spotted her driving yesterday and began following her car. She ended up driving into a parking lot on East Bluff.
He got out of the car he was in. Words were exchanged and Grant said she shot the suspect just as he was getting into her vehicle.
She drove away. He ended up back in the car in which he had been traveling with at least on other person.
That driver of that car stopped on N. Sherman Ave. after seeing firefighters in the area, and went to them seeking medical help.
The victim, a 25-year-old Madison, did not survive.
Grant was arrested for first degree reckless homicide.

DetailsMPD's Violent Crime Unit, along with North District officers and detectives are working a homicide.
Witnesses report there were two vehicles driving on East Bluff around 2:40 p.m. with at least one person firing a gun from one at the other.
A short time later, one of the vehicles stopped in the 400 block of N. Sherman Ave.
Officers found a male passenger in the vehicle deceased from an apparent gunshot wound(s).
