East Madison Bikeway Enhancement Projects

Prior to implementation of the BRT East/West system, the bicycle facilities along E. Washington Ave. were high-stress and generally inadequate relative to current City standards. Additionally, with the BRT project, those bike lanes are now utilized as part of a travel lane during peak hours. This project focuses on better connecting low-stress routes and providing options during peak hours.

Projects include:

E Mifflin Bicycle Boulevard Improvements

E Washington near Sparkle Ct Widened Sidewalk

Widening sidewalk to accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists from just east of the railroad tracks to Sparkle Ct and connection to Madison Public Market.

Winnebago Ave Bicycle Connection Improvements

Improving crosswalk markings, improve curb ramp and widen sidewalk to connect to the Union Corners Path.

Hoard St Bicycle Boulevard

Adding Bike Boulevard signs and marking along with Bicycle Wayfinding signage.

E Washington near Starkweather Path Connection

build a connection near the Starkweather Creek Path to provide an option to exit the East Washington Ave bike lane and reach the Starkweather Path and Hoard St.
