What is more exhilarating than zipping down a snow-covered hill, with the wind and snow crystals in your face? Dust off your toboggan or sled and hit the hills!! We have six parks with sledding hills: Elver, Olbrich, Sycamore, Heistand, Berkley and Warner Parks. If the temperatures cooperate, but the snow doesn't, no worries! Thanks to a grant from the Madison Community Foundation, staff can now make snow for the Elver Park sledding hill.
Madison Parks will do everything possible to have snow available for sledding at Elver Park. Of course while staff can be ready to go, the weather needs to cooperate. In order to make snow, frost needs to be set in the ground and the day time high temperatures need to be below freezing.
We remind everyone to have fun, be safe and respect your fellow sledders. Bring your own sleds. Keep a safe distance from others when sledding. Exit the bottom of the hill as quickly as possible. Walk up the hill using the side of the hill. And remember, the use of the sledding hill is at your own risk.
