Buy saltwater brine

The Streets Division sells saltwater brine for winter maintenance.

Location & Hours

1501 W. Badger Road

Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 2:00pm

Price

Minimum (50 gallons): $35

After the first 50 gallons: $0.57/gallon

Price updated November 2025. Why did it go up? Streets Division is using solar salt for making brine in the winter of 2025/2026. This is the first time we have used solar salt in this application. Solar salt does not have the same impurities as traditional rock salt, so it should be easier on the brine making equipment, but it is more expensive.

Components

Saltwater brine is a solution of sodium chloride (NaCl) dissolved in water.

Concentration: 23.3% ± 0.6% salt by weight

Equipment Requirements

You must have a vented tank with a 1-1/2” male cam & groove or camlock-style coupling. We will not fill any other type of container or tank.

Cam & groove and camlock couplings are available at most farm centers, contractor supply, hardware stores and online retailers for $5 - $10.

Large Volumes

If you are planning to pick up more than 1,000 gallons, please call ahead to make sure we have an adequate supply.
