Housing

The City's Community Development Division (CDD) works to ensure safe, decent, and affordable housing for Madison residents. CDD partners with developers and non-profit agencies to: increase affordable housing options; provide help to homeowners, renters, landlords and property owners; and support individuals experiencing homelessness. Through these efforts, CDD enhances household, neighborhood, and community stability.

  • The City is sharing an interactive Housing Tracker to gauge community progress toward its housing goals and to compare it with recent construction.

  • CDD collaborates with agencies to support people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.

  • CDD provides financing to develop safe, affordable housing for low- and moderate-income households. This includes both rental and owner-occupied housing.

  • Resources on rights and responsibilities, discrimination and fair housing, training opportunities, housing search support, and other support programs for tenants and landlords.

  • CDD supports sustainable homeownership for current and potential homeowners. CDD also provides resources to help renovate existing rental housing.
