Metro Transit Info SessionsLearn how to get around the city with help from Metro Transit! Whether you're looking to navigate the bus system or find alternative options, these helpful information sessions led by Metro employees will connect you to the services that are right for you. Several sessions are planned in library locations between January and April 2024. Metro employees will be available for one-on-one conversations in English and Spanish. No registration required; all are welcome!

JOB OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Youth Employment Coordinator 

Common Wealth is currently looking for a Youth Employment Coordinator, specifically to support our Experiential / Project-Based Learning suites (Experiential Learning & Leadership Academy (ELLA), Madison Youth Advisory Board, and the Wanda Fullmore Youth Internship Program).   This work includes working directly with teens and helping to deliver our employment and financial education, job placement, and mentoring programs to youth facing barriers to employment. This position is also responsible for building and maintaining crucial relationships with school partners and local businesses to support Experiential Learning programs through Madison Metropolitan School District. 

This is a full-time position with some evening and weekend hours required, with two days per month requiring evening hours. Hourly wage is $23.00 per hour, with full benefits.

  • Refugee Resettlement Case Manager (1 FTE)

The Resettlement Case Manager provides case management and extended cultural orientation support to ensure the integration and stability of newly arrived immigrants. This position is responsible for providing individualized services to refugees and asylees to help them reach self-sufficiency. This position will also organize and facilitate JSS’ Mental Health and Psychosocial. Support group programming.

Jewish Social Services (JSS) is a 40-year-old organization, working to improve the lives of individuals and families of all religions and nationalities. Our programs help people manage mental health and physical health; we care for and connect seniors to needed services and programs; we provide emergency financial help to rebuild self-sufficiency; and we welcome and help resettle and provide legal assistance to refugees from around the world. Our offices are located on the west side of Madison.

Understanding the City’s fund structure & main components of the operating budget

The Finance Department recorded a four-part series to explain the fundamentals of the City’s budget and options for closing the budget deficit. One goal of the series is to provide a general understanding of the overall City budget as a first step, followed by an explanation of what has been termed the “structural deficit”.  This informational series is a first step toward deciding on an approach to balancing next year’s budget.
