Local Events Pontiac reconstruction Tree Planting and Obihiro Delegation
postedIt is only Monday!
My good friend Leslie helps run the Sánchez Scholars program at Huegel Elementary School. Saturday, Alder Lankela, Mayor Rhodes Conway, and I stopped at the school to cheer on the kiddos while they learned about tree planting.
Shortly after, I headed to the airport to receive the Obihiro Delegation. Last July, I joined the Madison delegation on a trip to Japan, and I wanted to make sure they felt as welcome as I did when visiting their land.
Sunday, I joined them for a few hours, and today, I left home at 8 AM and returned sometime after 9 PM. We sat through presentations on economic development from the State, Destination Madison, Community Development, and the Arts. We had a short guided tour of the Monona Terrace and headed to the UW agricultural school.
There, I learned of the long history between the Madison and Obihiro University. They have a memorandum of understanding to exchange students and focus on Food Systems, sustainability, and research. It is a popular program!
Last stop before dinner and the Finance Committee meeting was Camp Randall. We got the chance to tour the area and watch the Women's volleyball practice. So grateful to be part of Team City! Good nite!
