Please attend one of the West Area Plan Kickoff Meetings (in-person or virtual) on February 6th, 9th, and 13th

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I encourage all of you to attend one of the upcoming West Area Plan meetings in February.  This will be our first opportunity to participate in the public planning process for the new West Area Plan.

This effort is part of a new approach to area plans that cover wider portions of the city. City staff will work with the community to chart a course of action for the next 10 years in the West Area. Please note that for our district, the dividing line between the West Area Plan and the Near West Area Plan is Midvale Boulevard so the Westmorland Neighborhood will not be included in this round. I would have preferred that our entire district be included in one area plan but this does give us the opportunity to participate in the another area plan at a later time.

The West Area Plan will cover land use, transportation, parks and open space, and other elements of the City's Comprehensive Plan. Initial public meetings are scheduled for:

• Monday, February 6, 12:00 p.m. – virtual meeting (registration via project web page)
   
• Thursday, February 9, 6:00 p.m. – in-person meeting at Vel Phillips Memorial High School,  201 S. Gammon Road, enter front doors and turn left for the Wisconsin Neighborhood Center

• Monday, February 13, 6:00 p.m. – virtual meeting (registration via project web page)

All three meetings will cover the same information and have similar opportunities to provide feedback and thoughts. Residents also have the opportunity to provide their thoughts via an interactive map on the project web page. I look forward to seeing many of you there!
