The City of Madison has been identified as a potential gateway city for a an Amtrak station.
Tom Lynch, who heads the project as the Director of Transportation (for the City of Madison) says that they are looking for public feedback as they have been working hard with many partners to identify potential local sites for a future station and evaluate these sites against a set of site selection priorities.
The selection priorities will be outlined during tonight’s virtual public meeting.
The Federal Government has made funds available to study potential, local passenger rail sites.
Director Lynch and other city staff are working closely with the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Amtrak and several railroad companies to study potential local, connecting sites.
