Support Local Businesses
During the holidays, it's always a good idea to support local businesses. This year it's even a better idea given the many challenges local retail shops are facing with the pandemic. I especially recommend District 13 businesses and restaurants, many of which offer gift cards.
Many of these gift cards can be purchased online. The Monroe Street Merchants Association makes it easy for you with their website: http://www.monroestreetmadison.com/. If you wish to support a business you don't see there, search for them online and you'll likely be able to make an online giftcard purchase.
First Snow Recap
I've heard from several of you about the need to keep sidewalks clear. This first snowfall last Saturday was heavy and wet, followed by freezing temps that made removal difficult. Please remember, we're required to clear sidewalks by noon the next day. We're out walking more, and none of us want to slip and fall. In other words, we don't want sidewalks looking like this photo:

If necessary, use this link to report a problem regarding a specific stretch of sidewalk:
Annie Stewart Fountain Community Session
The next in the series of monthly meetings is being held next Tuesday, December 22 at 6:30 pm. City Arts Administrator Karin Wolf will be hosting the meeting to discuss next steps for the Fountain. I have learned that Parks was able to purchase a covering from Gallagher Awnings to protect the statue for the winter.

Please see this urgent message that went out today from local health officials about how the public must remain vigilant even with vaccinations underway.
Take care and do stay safe.
