President's Work Group on Environmental Justice

I am a member of a new work group that is charged with providing the Common Council with policy recommendations on how to mitigate the impacts of PFAS and F-35s on existing and future developments, to create a PFAS outreach strategy, and a plan articulating the City's role in addressing these environmental issues. We held our first meeting yesterday morning.

Stop Line 3

Another major environmental justice issue in our region is the expansion of tar sands oil pipelines via Enbridge's Line 3 & Line 5. A press conference to stand against these devastating projects was held yesterday at Brittingham Park. I am co-sponsoring a resolution that stands in solidarity with the Ojibwe people and calls for a halt to construction of these destructive projects. This resolution will be on tonight's Common Council agenda. Click here for a link to the resolution.

Hong Kong Cafe goes to ALRC

Hong Kong Cafe is going before ALRC tomorrow, Wed July 21, at 4:30, to request an increase in their outdoor beer garden capacity for Badger Football games to 888, an increase from their current capacity of 738, and allow the playing of live Badger Football games, with sound, on two outdoor televisions, during the games only, and to play music through two outdoor speakers, on Badger Football Saturdays only, in compliance with City noise regulations.

I have checked with Greenbush Neighborhood Association and based on their feedback, I am suppoort of this request.
