Transit Network Redesign, McGrath E. Olin Project

posted

Hi Everyone,

The last gasp of winter before we rush into spring. Soon we'll be awash in daffodils and birdsong. In fact, with respect to the latter, the robins and cardinals have signaled aplenty their readiness for the change of seasons. So be patient, it's coming!

Here are a handful of updates:

Transit Network Redesign

There’s been a great deal of anxiety about the possible loss of Route 13. I understand these concerns and have been forthright in my conversations with staff about the need for adjustments to the Draft plan, particularly with respect to anticipated hardships on residents at Romnes Apartments and users of Goodman Pool. I remain confident collaborative solutions are within our grasp and that resident input will guide staff in the final version of the Plan.

A South Side (Districts 13 and 14) Community Meeting on the redesign is scheduled for Thursday, April 7 at 6pm.

McGrath Development Project

On March 14, residents heard from the McGrath Property Group regarding their 12-story development project at 222-232 E. Olin Ave. The Zoom meeting was late getting started, and some residents dropped off before the presentation began. The meeting was recorded, however, and the link can be found here: https://media.cityofmadison.com/Mediasite/Play/2637809be661487d9ce929f5322dcd0d1d

Alder Sheri Carter will be hosing a neighborhood meeting on this topic in the near future. As soon as I have information as to when, I will share the details here.

Common Council

Tuesday's Common Council meeting has a very heavy agenda and includes a number of items of potential interest to D13 residents including:

45 - Create the Roadway Cafe Permit to Allow for the Expansion of Licensed Sidewalk Cafes into the Roadway

114 - Adopting the Vision Zero Action Plan

137 - Approving the selection of the property located at 1902 Bartillon Drive as the site for a permanent shelter facility serving men experiencing homelessness (introduction only)

139 - Approving a land sale and agreements with Dane County to sell and develop portions of the Yahara Hills Golf Course as a future landfill, compost site and sustainable business park (introduction only)

You can find links to the agenda and to register to provide comment here.
