Visions & Golf Task Force updates & final Buckeye Road reconstruction meeting - D15 Update 6/9/19

posted

Two items that I've discussed before will be on this week's Common Council meeting agenda. You can read the earlier post here.

Visions License Renewal

As I mentioned in my earlier post, the City Attorney's office was not ready to file for nonrenewal at the annual ALRC renewal meeting in May and instead plans to file a revocation complaint this summer. As such, the ALRC voted to recommend renewal of the license at this time (while adding several new conditions including screening for weapons at the door and clearly identifying security personal with uniforms).

This week I spoke with Assistant City Attorney Jennifer Zilavy and she confirmed her intent to file the revocation complaint in July. Once this complaint is filed a hearing will be scheduled at ALRC (typically several weeks after the complaint is filed).

If you have any comments or concerns related to Visions' operation and impact to the community, please reach out to her to have your input and testimony included in her case. You can reach her at 608-266-4511 or at JZilavy@cityofmadison.com.

Municipal Golf Task Force

Also on Tuesday's agenda is a resolution for: Establishing a Task Force on Municipal Golf in Madison Parks to make recommendations to the Mayor, Common Council, and the Board of Park Commissioners regarding the future of the City's Municipal Golf Courses.

A draft of this resolution will be referred to the Board of Park Commissioners' Wednesday meeting and could be ready for action at the June 18th Common Council meeting. I support creation of the task force to help answer the complicated and important questions regarding the future of our municipal golf program. I will following the work of the Task Force closely and will continue to keep you updated about progress and opportunities for input via blog updates. Thank you to everyone that has sent me comments and please continue to share your thoughts with me on this issue.
