Alder Foster’s Updates
Swiss Colony Site, Water Utility, Municipal Golf - D15 Update 1/26/20

Meeting Highlights
On Monday, the Plan Commission will consider approval of final plans for a parking lot and stormwater management on a site previously approved for demolition at 3630 Milwaukee Street. This is part of a larger proposal to use the former Swiss Colony site as an Amazon Hub distribution center. You can read the staff report here and access the Milwaukee Street Special Area Plan here. The proposed use is not consistent with the Special Area Plan recommendations, but is a permitted use under the current zoning of both 3630 and 3650 parcels. Unfortunately, because the demolition was previously approved there was little public notice given about this item. Anyone interested can attend the public hearing at the Plan Commission meeting on Monday beginning at 5:45p. I plan to attend the meeting on Monday and ask more questions about the proposed development. If you have questions or opinions you'd like to share with me, please send to district15@cityofmadison.com.
On Tuesday, the Water Utility agenda includes item #6 - Water Conservation House Project Update. The September update can be found here. Also on Tuesday, there will also be a public information meeting on Hwy 30 resurfacing project from Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The objective of the meeting is to gather public input and provide a project update.
On Wednesday, the Task Force on Municipal Golf in Madison Parks will hold their next meeting. While previous meetings have been largely informational, the Task Force will need to begin discussing possible recommendations in order to complete their report by this spring. Closure of one or more municipal courses is one option being considered.
On Thursday, staff from the Water Utility and Public Health will give an informational presentation on PFAS contamination at Sennett MS and will be available to answer questions from residents. If you have any questions you'd like to submit in advance you can send them to me at district15@cityofmadison.com.
Saturday, check out the Zumbathon fundraiser for Wisconsin Food Forests at LaFollette HS or head over to Olbrich Botanical Gardens for Orchid Quest 2020 and stop by the Late Winter Market at Garver Feed Mill. The Madison Winter Festival at Elver Park also begins Saturday and continues through Sunday, with snow carving, snowshoeing, and skijoring with your dog.
