Alder Foster’s Updates
Demolitions, Redistricting, ECA Meeting - D15 Update 8/9/21
Plan Commission
On Monday, there are three District 15 item on the agenda at Plan Commission: 66119- Demolition of 3570-3578 E. Washington, 66110-Demolition of 507 Davidson, and 66111-Food cart at Dive Inn. You can find a link to the agenda and to register to provide comment here. The Lake Edge neighborhood association has shared support for both the Davidson demolition and the food cart at the Dive Inn. The food cart conditional use approval will be referred to a future meeting in order for the applicant to update their application.
ECA Meeting
On Tuesday, The Eastmorland Community Association will hold its monthly meeting online beginning at 7p. You can find a link to the agenda and meeting here.
Redistricting
On Thursday, the city's Ad Hoc Redistricting Committee will hold its first meeting. Redistricting is done every 10 years following the census and can result in changes to your city, county, and state representation. You can find all the details here.
Young Blood Beer Co. at 1915 S. Stoughton Rd
Alder Currie will be hosting a virtual neighborhood meeting on Thursday, August 12, at 6pm to hear about Young Blood Beer Co.'s proposal to open a brewery in the existing building at 1915 S. Stoughton Road. The facility would be for production only with no taproom or tasting facilities for the public. No changes to the site are being proposed. Brewing operations would take place Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm. Any interested District 15 residents are also invited to attend and can register at www.cityofmadison.com/MeetingAug12YBBC.
Wild Ones Madison Annual Ice Cream Social
Also on Thursday, Wild Ones will be hosting their annual ice cream social at the Aldo Leopold Center beginning at 6:30p - details here.
Eviction Moratorium Extended
On August 3, the CDC issued a new order extending the moratorium on evictions due to non-payment of rent for 60 days, through October 3. The Order is limited to counties with substantial or high rates of community transmission. Dane County is currently at a substantial rate of community transmission, so the extension currently applies here in Dane County. In order to qualify for protection under the Order, you will have to have served a declaration upon your landlord attesting to a number of facts. The Tenant Resource Center has a declaration tool you can use to determine whether you are eligible and send a declaration to your landlord. You also need to apply for government assistance available to you. TRC is currently administering the Dane CORE program, which allocates federal emergency rent assistance funds, and you can apply online. Urban Triage is currently providing assistance to people in completing applications and will be administering rental assistance funds, as well, next month. That information is available at their website. There are several exceptions to the order that allow landlords to proceed with eviction for tenant misconduct or contract violations for reasons other than non-payment.
