Quick Lesson on Succession

I couldn't resist playing with the title for this blog. Did you know that there is an official line-of-succession when the mayor is out-of-town or unavailable? Responsibility passes to an "acting mayor". The first in line is the President of the Common Council, followed by the Vice-President and then one or two of the experienced alders who have had leadership experience. From July 3 to 6, Mayor Rhodes-Conway, Vice-President Govindarajan, and prior Council President Figueroa Cole will be part of a delegation visiting Madison's Sister City, Obihiro, Japan. Since Council President Vidaver will be absent for the July 4 holiday, the next in line is District 17 Alder, Sabrina Madison.

Coffee Across Madison

Alder Madison is taking the opportunity of serving as Acting Mayor to visit eight coffee houses on July 3, scattered across our city. Alder Madison is a vocal champion of the East Side but has announced: "I will even visit the West Side". She will be at the Steep-n-Brew West at 6656 Odana Rd from 2:00 to 2:30 pm tomorrow. She would love to meet any of you who can stop by. I'll join her.
