Next Phase of Public Meetings for Southwest Area Plan Scheduled

Southwest Area Plan Refresher

Area plans plot the future of twenty areas of Madison. The city launches planning for two areas per year with the goal of refreshing each about every decade.  The District 19 neighborhood between the Beltline and Schroeder Rd is included in the Southwest Area Plan.

Initial Recommendations Posted October 16-17

Planning staff incorporated resident input from multiple in-person and virtual meetings into an initial set of draft actions. These draft actions were published last week. You can review them on a story map. The full set of draft actions, partnerships, and maps, which allow for commenting and feedback, are available here.

In the next round of planning, staff will gather resident comments on the draft actions - those provided on-line or in the upcoming in-person and virtual meetings. With this further input, staff will prepare a proposed plan for review by various boards, commissions and committees before ultimately going to the Common Council.
