Alternate Side Parking Rules Are in Effect - Night of November 29-30 until March 15
postedAlternate Side Parking
With today's declaration of a snow emergency, Madison's Winter Parking Rules became effective and will continue until March 15, 2026.
Alternate side parking requires you to park on a specific side of the street overnight based on the date. This helps us plow the streets. The side of the street is determined by the date at 1:00am.
- On odd numbered days from 1:00am – 7:00am, park on the side of the street with odd house numbers.
- On even numbered days from 1:00am – 7:00am, park on the side of the street with even house numbers.
This is the night of November 29-30, so at 1 am it will be November 30, requiring parking on the side with even house numbers. The violation fine is $60.
Exceptions
Streets with parking on only one side
On streets where parking is always restricted to one side of the street for the entire block, alternate side parking rules do not apply.
Streets where parking is restricted to one side of the street for part of the block must follow alternate side parking rules.
Cul-de-sacs without even and odd numbers
Most cul-de-sacs have even and odd house numbers, and you must follow alternate side parking.
If your cul-de-sac does not have even and odd house numbers, check the cul-de-sac parking list for more information.
