Agency 2027 Operating Budget Requests Now Available

The 2027 agency operating budget requests are now available online. All of the documents submitted by agencies, including the department head memo and Two percent reduction proposals, are included in the digital budget book. Here is also a PDF copy of the budget requests.

The Office of the Mayor asked that requests adhere to the guidance and instructions provided to agencies at the start of the request period.  

Digital Budget Book Navigation Tips:

• Use the navigation bar on the left-hand menu of ClearGov.
• Expand and collapse the list of contents by using the arrows.
• To view a specific agency budget, go to Agency Operating Budget Requests à expand the Functional Area (e.g. Administration, Public Works) and select the Agency
• At the bottom of the navigation pane, you can scroll through the whole book using forward/ backward buttons. 

Next Steps

After intense agency interviews, Madison's Finance Department and Office of the Mayor will issue the Mayor's Executive Budgets, one for capital and one for operating expenditures, reconciling agency stated needs with Wisconsin's limits on property taxes and city expenditures. Mayor Rhodes-Conway has recently committed to funding police body cameras in the 2027 capital and operating budgets. The details will be reflected in the executive budgets. Here is the overall timeline ending with Common Council adoption in November.
