Drop Off-Site, Brush and Yard Waste Schedule, April Election and Other Highlights for the Week of March 21, 2022

Streets Division News

  • The Streets Division's drop-off site located at 1501 W. Badger Road will be closing on March 25, 2022 for a construction project. Residents will not be able to use the Badger Road drop-off site while it is closed for construction. The site will remain closed until at least the spring of 2023. Read more here.

April 5th Election

  • As you prepare for the Spring Election on April 5, the City of Madison Clerk's Office has a few reminders for you:
    • Click here to learn about what types of photo ID you can use for voting in Wisconsin.
    • A recent court decision has a significant impact on how an absentee voter can return their completed absentee ballot. As a result of the decision, the use of absentee ballot drop boxes is prohibited and no one but the absentee voter is able to return their completed ballot. Find more information here.
    • Voters can view a sample ballot for their address on the MyVote Wisconsin website. More details can be found here.
  • In-Person Absentee Voting Starts Tuesday in Madison. You can vote at Alicia Ashman Library
    (733 N. High Point Rd.) from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday - Friday, Mar. 22 – Apr. 1 and 
    11:00 am – 4:00 pm Saturday, Mar. 26 & Apr. 2. Click here for more locations and details.

  • Police & Fire Commission Announces Selection of Next Fire Chief: Chris P. Carbon to be Madison's next Fire Chief. Chris Carbon is a lifelong "Madisonian," having attended Madison West High School, as well as graduating from the UW-Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree. He has been involved in the fire and EMS services beginning in 1992, and has been with the City of Madison Fire Department since 1999 serving in the roles of Firefighter, Paramedic, Lieutenant, and Training Officer. Chris is presently the Division Chief overseeing Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Training and Logistics. He has been heavily involved in community paramedicine. Read full news release
