postedExtreme Cold Arrived Last Night
- Dangerously low temperatures are forecasted this week, and Public Health Madison & Dane County and Metro Transit want to remind residents to take steps to be safe and stay warm. Subzero temperatures, wind chills, and winter storms can cause hypothermia, frostbite, and even death. There were 103 cold-related deaths in Wisconsin during the winter months of 2024-25, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. “The health risks in these kinds of conditions are especially high for the elderly, people with disabilities, and people who spend time outdoors or lack consistent access to heat, including people experiencing homelessness,” said Morgan Finke, Communication Coordinator for Public Health Madison & Dane County.
- Call 211 if you have questions about local shelter options. The best way to stay safe is to be prepared, stay indoors.
No Stopping Standing Parking Signs Addressing Safety Concern: Traffic Hazard and Sightline Obstruction - Schroeder Rd & Saybrook Rd.
Addressing safety concerns: traffic hazard and sightline obstruction. A follow up to let you know that we have set up a work order to have No Stopping Standing Parking signs posted on both sides of Saybrook close to the intersection with Schroeder. The signs will only be in effect from 1:00 to 4:00 I believe.
When the weather warms up we may adjust the sign positions – we cannot install new posts with the frozen ground, so the new signs are going on existing posts. Those locations will work, but they may not be exactly where we would like them.
Please be advised Madison Parks will be burning brush piles today at the following sites: Elver Park, 1250 McKenna Blvd, Madison, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
