South Broom Street and West Wilson Street Closures

Starting Monday, May 22, South Broom Street will be fully closed to traffic between West Wilson Street and West Doty Street, and eastbound West Wilson Street will be closed between South Broom Street and South Henry Street. A map of the closures is available.

Metro Transit bus routes are detoured.

Pedestrian walkways will be maintained on at least one side of each street, through the work zone, at all times.

These closures are for Madison Gas and Electric underground work prior to the start of the full street reconstruction project, which will begin on Monday, June 5. Details and updates regarding the street reconstruction project can be found on the project website.

One inbound (northbound) lane of South Broom Street will reopen by Friday, August 11. All other streets will reopen in late October to early November.

Motorists and bicyclists are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays during this closure.
