City to Close Non-Essential Services to the Public Tuesday January 9th Due to Inclement Weather

posted

Due to expected heavy snowfall starting later this evening and continuing through Tuesday, all non-essential, in-person City services will be suspended on Tuesday January 9, 2024.

Emergency services, including the Madison Police and Fire Departments will not be affected by the closure.  Madison Metro plans to operate regularly scheduled service; riders should expect delays due to the weather. Remote and online services such as online permitting will continue to be offered during this time.

Other city facilities such as libraries, Olbrich Park, and the Clerk’s and Treasurer's Offices, among others, will not be open to the public.

The Madison Streets Division will continue around the clock snow plowing and salting operations. Madison Police, Fire and Streets Division will work closely with Dane County Emergency Management to continue monitoring conditions throughout the blizzard.

We expect that all in-person operations will resume on Wednesday January 10, 2024. We will continue to monitor the weather for Wednesday and will provide you with notice should conditions warrant additional closures.

Please visit www.cityofmadison.com/Winter for additional information including snow plowing updates. As winter weather worsens, make sure to sign up for Winter Weather Alerts!
