UW Medical Interns Step Into MFD Boots
postedWhat happens before a patient ever reaches the hospital Emergency Department? Last week, we invited University of Wisconsin medical interns to the training center to find out!
Through our Doc Ops program, these medical interns get a front-row seat — and a hands-on taste — of tactical firefighting and EMS operations.
To strengthen our community's chain of survival, these physicians suited up in full structural personal protective equipment (PPE), operated heavy hydraulic rescue tools for vehicle extrication, advanced charged hose lines, and navigated darkened search-and-rescue environments. They also fused their medical expertise with field reality by delivering pre-hospital care under simulated fireground conditions.
By pulling back the curtain, we're building a stronger partnership between the streets and the hospital. Massive credit to these interns for stepping out of their comfort zones, putting in the physical work, and training alongside our crews to elevate patient care in Madison.
