Downed Lines Cause Temporary Power Outage on East Side

Engine 8 responded for an electrical problem/transformer explosion.  On arrival, local residents reported that their power was out and they had heard an explosion at the transformer in their backyard.  The crew observed a tree branch laying across the power lines above a power transformer.  The overhead power lines appeared intact, but the lines feeding the transformer were hanging down.  No other abnormality with the lines or transformer was observed.  The crew reported their findings to Dispatch to relay to MG&E, who was on their way.
