Smoldering Cardboard Causes Smoke Scare at East Side Business

Firefighters responded to a big box store where employees reported the smell of smoke. Engine Co. 8 met with the store manager and began to investigate. They ultimately found a smoldering stack of cardboard contained in an outdoor caged storage area. There was minor charring on the exterior brick wall of the store. Firefighters deployed a hose line and extinguished the smoldering cardboard using 100 gallons of water. A thermal imaging camera was used to verify that there were no other hot spots.
